What skin care products could be sabotaging your results?

Foaming Cleansers - Unless you are very oily, oily or Combo using a foaming type of cleanser could strip the skin, leading to surface dehydration, thus causing more irritation and dryness ultimately leading to more oiliness.

Make up Wipes -

  • They often contain irritating ingredients - such as harsh surfactants, preservatives, alcohol, and fragrances. Which all can cause irritation, dryness, redness and allergic reactions especially for sensitive skin.
  • They are incomplete cleansing - they tend to smear makeup dirt and oil rather than removing it. This left behind could lead to clogged pores and more breakouts.
  • It can also damage the skin barrier - the physical rubbing required to remove makeup can cause micro tears accelerating the aging process especially around delicate eye area.  Including excess dryness and sensitivity.
  • The environmental impact – make-up wipes are not biodegradable leading to significant landfill waste and environmental pollution.

Oily Cleansing Balms - can leave residue behind leading to more clogged pores and more breakouts in acne prone skin.

Physical Scrubs - Using a daily scrub can lead to dehydration, irritation, barrier disruption and micro tears.  The type of scrub particles, frequency, and pressure used with a scrub can exacerbate sensitive, dry, acne, or inflamed skin issues.  Using over inflamed acne triggers additional inflammation leading to exacerbated acne.

Not Wearing Sunscreen –

  • Not wearing sunscreen every day accelerates the breakdown of collagen thus aging the skin faster. Aging skin is the accumulation of small increments of exposure day after day.
  • It increases the stimulation of melanin which ultimately ends up in discoloration later.
  • It can also trigger sensitivities, or heat sensitivities which can lead to rash like bumps and dehydration. The disruption causes the skin and breaks down the ability to repair itself
