Impatient with your acne?
Suffering with acne of all kinds is one of the most frustrating ordeals you can go through.
Having patience, is not always easy, but it is part of the successful journey. What I tell my clients is there is a solution for this, and we will find it, but it will take time and patience.
Being an acne expert for almost 20 years and battling my own acne condition for 40 years, gives me a wide perspective of what skin types, sensitivities that arise, and what acne types respond to best. Leaving my clients with smoother and clearer sooner rather than later.
It’s NOT very common for me to come up against a situation that I can’t help, but it can happen. When this happens, I strategize to figure out many different possibilities. If we can figure it out we have a much higher success rate. If it turns out to be an underlying condition that needs a medical professional, we will recommend a follow up with an MD. We definitely continue to support the needs of your skin care regimen, even when being under the care of a Physician.
With each new client and experience, I find new ways of helping my clients cope with the impatience of getting clear.
The oxymoron is the more impatient, and frustrated you become on the flipside you could be triggering more inflammation, which causes the acne to flare up more due to your increased stress levels.
When working with an aesthetician, it is important to keep communication open, so we can guide you and encourage you through the process. Being honest about using other products and ingredients is important for aestheticians to know so they have a better idea of what they’re dealing with and what you’re responding to.
Communicating allows the aesthetician to adjust your regimen so things are more comfortable, and you progress consistently instead of irregularly.
In the process of clearing up, it’s common for the acne to get better and flare up again. This is what we call purging and sometimes it can happen early on and other times it can continue on and off for many weeks, and it can even be common to get totally clear and then revert back to break outs.
The most valuable process of an acne regimen is: Staying consistent with your regimen throughout a time frame for a minimum of 4 to 6 months. This time frame can be extended by sensitivity, non-compliance, mix and matching products, or lifestyles that can interfere with certain aspects of your acne condition. It’s extremely important to help determine and navigate which way your acne regimen should go. Having a professional guide to help keep you accountable and the guidance to help navigate these difficult times
Because there are no quick fixes it takes time for the skin to reveal what it can tolerate, what it’s responding to, including how and why it’s reacting.
Being consistent with your regimen and adjusting as necessary, while increases and decreases of acne lesions appear it’s important to recognize that this is part of the process of removing clogged pores underneath the skin that can ultimately end into inflamed acne lesions.
