Ingredient List

Pore Clogging Ingredients - with Extra Info

What does “Organic” or “Natural” skin care products have that others may not?  Some of the worst pore -clogging ingredients.  Yikes! A good rule of thumb is to avoid products that include these ingredients, the fatty acid isopropyl myristate and isopropyl palmitate, isopropyl lanolate, myristyl myristate, isostearyl neopentonate, and isostearyl isostearate. Other pore-cloggers: algae, seaweed, kelp, potassium chloride, decyl oleate, oleth-3, oleyl alcohol, PPG 2 myristyl propionate, sodium sulfates (sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium laureth sulfate), laureth-4 and laureth-23, acetylated lanolin alcohol,

Adding to the list to avoid look for natural butters like cocoa butter and shea butter.

Be aware of some problem oils:  Coconut, sweet almond, argon, carrot, olive, apricot kernel, palm kernel, Moroccan Oil, vitamin E, wheat germ, sulfated jojoba oil, aromatherapy oil blends, and scented oils.

Safer Oils list: Fragrance-free safflower and sunflower oils are naturally less comedogenic; high-quality mineral oil

But the ad said it was non-comedogenic?  Marketing language sometimes is used to get the unsuspecting seeker to use a product without realizing there may be non-compatible ingredients for their skin type and thus relying on the marketing statements alone…could bring you some results or side effects that are not exactly what you expected.  Sigh….A good rule of thumb is to take the extra time to review an ingredient list and start educating yourself on some of the most offensive pore-clogging ingredients. These Ingredients that might right now be in your make-up, hair care and skin care products.  One way if you a lil busy or lazy is to choose powder makeup over their counterpart favorites…like tinted moisturizers, BB creams and liquid foundations and lets not forget the concealers.

Checking ingredient list can be daunting at first but the more you do the easier it becomes…If you’re not sure look for reviews and not just one that says this product broke me out, but multiple reviews in similarity making these claims.

Acne break out or reaction?

A lot of times what I find is my clients will actually have an irritation or reaction to a product that mimics a breakout.  Thus them thinking that whatever was in that product broke them out. While there was something that triggered the reactions, in order to point a finger on exactly what it was is almost impossible without medical testing for sensitivities.
